After School at Outer Village
A play-based, bilingual Spanish program for ages 4–8
The school day has ended. It’s time to PLAY.
Outdoor time, friends, snack, project work, and a consistent afternoon routine — so you can finish your workday knowing your kid is happy and cared for.
What your kid's afternoon looks like
Every day follows a rhythm that's predictable enough to feel safe and flexible enough to feel free.
Kids arrive, decompress, and ease in. Each day includes outdoor play at the park or beach, project work, Spanish enrichment, mindfulness, snack, stories, and a closing circle before pick-up. Mixed-age groups mean the 4-year-olds and 8-year-olds are learning from each other all afternoon.
Ages 4–5 get outdoor exploration first — digging, climbing, cooperative play — before coming inside for creation stations, reading or music.
Ages 6–8 dig into STEAM challenges, collaborative projects, and games that build focus and problem-solving before heading outside for games and nature exploration.
Both groups start and end the day together at our brand new community classroom on 45th/Judah.
What we believe
Kids need to move.
We prioritize outdoor time every single day, weather permitting. After hours of structured sitting, children need to run, climb, dig, and breathe.
Play is serious work.
Through exploration and unstructured time, kids build resilience, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving — the skills no worksheet can teach.
Community is everything.
Older kids learn to lead and look out for others. Younger kids gain confidence from being around kids who are a little further along. Everyone benefits.
Emotional literacy matters.
Short daily mindfulness practices help kids regulate, reflect, and arrive home as their best selves — not their most depleted ones.
